Bitmap Vs. Vector
- Bitmap images are made up of pixels, and can not be scaled up effectively, however you may be able to scale down to gain resolution if the image is large enough. Bitmap is the ideal format for pictures and web images such as GIF, JPG, etc. On the other hand VECTOR EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) images are created on the fly by the numerical coordinates that are contained within the EPS file. Vector images can be scaled up or down infinitely without the loss of resolution and are much smaller files compared to bitmap files, thus the file of choice for logo and illustration designers and print shops. In fact many print houses require vector files. Vector images also allow you to change color and edit individual elements with ease.
